Yaqi has worked at the Confucius Institute for Scotland since 2023. Initially as a Chinese teacher and since 2024 has been working as the Institute’s Administrator. Yaqi supports the delivery of the educational and cultural programmes and operations. Her teaching background at the CI is helpful in understanding the needs of learners and supporting the smooth delivery of programmes.

Yaqi, a graduate from the College of International Education, Minzu University of China, previously worked in the USA as a Chinese teaching assistant where she helped learners from various countries improve their Chinese language skills. These experiences have contributed to her strong organisational, communication, and intercultural skills, which she now applies in her administrative role.

She Yaqi enjoys music, sports, and movies, and she values a diverse worldview. She believes that teaching Chinese provides a meaningful way to connect people across cultures and puts this belief into practice by supporting enriching Chinese learning experiences.
