Private Classes

While our popular language classes are ideal for those who can commit to a regular programme of learning, we also offer private classes in the workplace or in the Institute, tailored to meet individual learner’s specific needs.

Location

We currently only offer private classes in-person or online.

Is the Private Class Right for Me?

Private classes are suitable to time pressed individuals, business people or even to whole families moving abroad. Our teachers can deliver intensive one-to-one or small group language courses. We also offer support classes to school students by special arrangement.

What are other students saying about our private classes?

My teacher’s knowledge of Chinese is excellent, and she’s especially strong in the contextual use of terms, expressions, and idioms.  With her tuition, I’ve become much more aware of how these elements of the Chinese language have historical context and contemporary cultural and social media use that, when correctly understood, will lead to a higher level of Chinese proficiency.

Let me just add that over the last two years, since I started re-learning Chinese, I have found the CI teachers who have taught me in private classes to be excellent.  They all have their strengths, whether it is knowledge of chengyu (Hongli), clarity of grammatical explanations (Jiarui) or contextual meanings of Chinese (Rongfeng).  Quite apart from their academic and pedagogical strengths, I have found each of them to be well prepared for each lesson, committed to teaching Chinese to foreigners (and diasporan Chinese), affable as a mentor, and amenable to tailoring the teaching to my linguistic level and background.  This is my assessment as someone who was involved in language teaching for over thirty years in Oxford and Edinburgh.
