Yu Jie graduated with a Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages in 2012, became a full-time Chinese teacher at the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, and joined Fudan University in 2013.

She worked as a Chinese language teacher at the Confucius Institute at Phuket, Prince of Songkhla University, Thailand, from 2014-2016. She was also a Chinese language teacher at the Confucius Institute Frankfurt in Germany from 2017-2019. She joined the Confucius Institute for Scotland at the University of Edinburgh in September 2022.
