Hu Wenhua is the associate professor and vice dean of the International Cultural Exchange School at Fudan University. She holds a Ph.D. from East China Normal University. Hu is a graduate supervisor and a member of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT), with rich experience in international education of the Chinese language. She has published three academic monographs (one of which was co-authored), acted as the chief editor of five textbooks, published more than twenty academic papers, and hosted/ participated in multiple projects funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and scientific research projects of provincial level.

Chinese vocabulary teaching is one of the important contents in international Chinese education. This talk starts from introducing vocabulary knowledge and language skills, and then focuses on word teaching in listening, speaking, reading and writing activities. The final part of this talk is drawn on the incidental vocabulary acquisition and related issues.
The questions will be addressed and discussed one by one in this talk, are.
- What is the lexical knowledge schema of native speakers?
- What about the breadth and depth of vocabulary knowledge?
- How is the degree of vocabulary acquisition reflected?
- What is the task of word teaching in different language skills?
- What are the characteristics of word teaching under the mode of listening, speaking, reading and writing?
