Xiaoyan studied English Language at Huazhong Agricultural University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Chinese Language Education at Guangxi Minzu University. She has experience teaching both English and Chinese to learners of different ages and backgrounds. She joined the Confucius Institute for Scotland in September 2026.

She enjoys creating a warm and supportive classroom where learners feel comfortable using Chinese in real-life situations. With a particular interest in Chinese calligraphy, classical poetry and traditional culture, she hopes to bring language and culture together in an engaging and accessible way. As a language learner herself, she believes that curiosity and confidence are at the heart of meaningful language learning.
