This course will be useful if you want to learn some basic Chinese vocabulary to assist in business
interactions with Chinese counterparts.
What does it cover?
Emphasis is placed on simple expressions that will give you a degree of independence within set
social and business contexts.
Key contents include Chinese pronunciation, Chinese names, work titles, and a range of common
pleasantries used for greetings, making acquaintance, expressing gratitude, ordering food,
proposing a toast, asking for directions, exchanging farewells and so on.

How is the course taught?
Classes are taught face-to-face in a classroom setting.
Course materials include PowerPoint slides and hard-copy handouts.
We’ll offer you a short follow-up Skype call after each class to help consolidate what you’ve
learned.
We recommend that you revise between classes to reinforce your learning.
We’ll also provide you with audio documents and additional reading materials to support your
revision and further study.
Does this course allow progression to other courses?
No, the course is simply designed to provide you with basic vocabulary to assist in general social
