Llinos has worked within international higher education for nearly two decades managing partnerships, student recruitment and internationalisation. She has worked at the universities of Cardiff, Aberdeen and presently Edinburgh. Since joining Edinburgh a decade ago, Llinos has strategically led the internationalisation of its Business School: developing partnerships with other world-leading Business Schools and internationalising the student experience both on campus and by curating innovative overseas opportunities. In 2020-2022 she was seconded as Senior Partnerships Advisor within Edinburgh Global where she steered the network of global partnerships across the university as part of the team. In 2022 she was appointed as the General Manager at the University’s Confucius Institute, a role which brings together her wealth of knowledge and experience of China and Chinese language, strategic partnership development particularly with other Chinese institutions in addition to her internationalisation and cultural relations experience within the university sector over the years.
Llinos, originally from Wales, graduated from Bristol University in Philosophy with German. She is a qualified CELTA EFL teacher and taught in Spain and various parts of China for 4 years before returning to the UK to work in the HE sector. In her spare time, she enjoys teaching her native language Welsh; and studying Gaelic and Chinese language, having most recently studied the latter at Peking University. She is passionate about linguistic diversity and believes language learning is the key to unlocking other cultures.
