Chinese Language Class – Upper Intermediate – Step 2
Course Summary
This course is a continuation of Upper Intermediate Step 1. Students continue to develop all four skills starting to slowly close the gap between their receptive and productive skills. The development of listening and speaking skills will remain a focus of the course, and teachers will, at the same time, will encourage students to rely less on pinyin. Compared to lower levels of courses, slightly more emphasis will be attached to the recognition and writing of characters. Students are encouraged to reflect and internalise grammatical devices and structures that they have studied and actively use them in conversations and writings.

Learning Objectives
Note: This course includes a total of 3 units: unit 4&5 include a conversational text and a narrative text, unit 6 includes a narrative text. The teacher may adjust the content by adding or reducing certain content based on the students’ language proficiency levels. Normally, actual teaching content will be selected from what is presented above.
Teaching Methods
The teaching method is student-centered, emphasizing interactivity and practicality. It enhances students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translating through activities such as discussions and role-playing in contextualized settings.
