This workshop is composed of four sections. Starting from the origin of Chinese characters, Dr. Meng will look into the question of morpheme in Chinese characters. Examining its unique symbolic meaning, the workshop will touch the final and key area of how to teach characters in teaching Chinese as a national language.
Speaker Bio
Meng Dehong, Ph.D. in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Beijing Normal University. He is the former director of the Department of Chinese as a Foreign Language at the School of Chinese Language and Literature, Beijing Foreign Studies University, a researcher and deputy director of the Beijing Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange Research Base.
