Peking University
One of China's premier universities, Peking is a comprehensive and national key university.
As well as being a centre for teaching and research with a comprehensive array of disciplines the University activity promotes interaction and multi-disciplinary learning.
The Chinese Orchestra based inside the University's China Music Institute is an example of this multi-disciplinary approach with members of the orchestra drawn from a wide range of subject disciplines but united in their love of music and in their musical abilities.
The President
Professor Zhou Qifeng, President of Peking University will lead this visit to Scotland. This is his second visit to Scotland and a warm welcome is extended to him, to his colleagues and to his students.

A native of Hunan Province, Professor Zhou Qifeng is a renowned and highly decorated chemist whose research interests include polymer synthesis, liquid crystalline and specialty polymers. His scholarship and personal qualities have ensured a stellar career which within the last ten years have seen him made a memberof the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council (a position he continues to hold) as well as a became a Standing Committee Member and Vice Chair of the Chemistry Division of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2004 to 2008 Zhou Qifeng was the President of Jilin University, and in November 2008, was appointed the President of Peking University.
He has published many internationally-received books and over 200 papers on these subjects
