Cumulatively, it is the largest global development initiative in the world aiming at developing infrastructure and modern technology from countries across South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East and others to Europe.<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #3c3c3c; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 11.5pt;\">Far from being a China project only it is meanwhile covering more than 68 countries, including 65% of the world&#8217;s population, affecting around 4.4 billion people. Most of these regions count as \u201cundeveloped\u201d but they also hold 75% of global energy resources. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #3c3c3c; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 11.5pt;\">The BRI is challenging the global order both in terms of thinking about sustainable development as well as resource distribution. It is also an unprecedented global development plan with multiple opportunities for these countries but also every-one involved in the project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"margin: 0px; color: #3c3c3c; line-height: 107%; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; font-size: 11.5pt;\">Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the UK,\u00a0 who &#8220;<i>calls the Belt and Road Initiative the Big Economic Idea of the century<\/i>&#8221; delivered opening keynote at our 2017 conference.
