Dr. Jin Ri (senior lecturer, also known as Richard Jin) specializes in international relations. Before joining the Confucius Institute for Scotland, he taught a number of courses at International Cultural Exchange School of Fudan University in Shanghai, among which are Contemporary Chinese Foreign Relations, History of the People’s Republic of China, Contemporary International Relations，History of European Civilization and so on.
In order to study European integration, Dr. Jin spent a year in 2000/01 visiting Abertay University, Mannheim University, Germany and Antwerp University, Belgium under the auspices of the EU-China Higher Education Cooperation Programme. In the academic year of 2005/06 he stayed at Columbia University, New York researching the transatlantic relationship between the US and Europe.
In recent years, Dr. Jin’s research focuses on the cultural dimensions of international relations and political systems as well as transnational language spread.
His publications include From Regional Cooperation to the Commitment to EU: the Gradual Change of Swedish Foreign Policy (2003), The Political Analysis of European Integration(2004), Early Europeans’ Understanding and Research of Chinese Language (2010).
