This programme is brought to you by the Confucius Institute for Scotland in partnership with Donghua University’s Shanghai International College of Fashion jointly known as the Donghua Edinburgh Centre for Creative Industries (DECCI).
The Exhibition and Fashion Show in 2017 was the first large scale project from DECCI and has been followed by a second Exhibition and Fashion Show in 2018.

Donghua University College of Fashion and Innovation
Founded in 1951 from the former China Textile University, Donghua (DHU) is a key university under the Ministry of Education, China. With over 30,000 students and more than 2,800 faculty and staff, DHU features disciplines such as Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Material Science, International Trade, and Information Technology.
Its academic achievements have found applications in areas such as aeronautics, military science, new material, architecture, and environment protection. The number of valid patents ranks top 12 among Chinese colleges and universities.
International in outlook, DHU was the among the first group of Universities to accept overseas students as early as 1954. Today it has established cooperation with over 100 well known overseas universities and almost 5000 international students from 130 countries attend DHU.
Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume
Located on the Yan’an Road Campus of Donghua University and developed from the previous Donghua University Museum of Textile History and Donghua University Museum of Costume, Shanghai Museum of Textile and Costume was co-established by Donghua University and Shanghai Municipal government. It is the only university museum in China to comprehensively exhibit the history, culture and scientific knowledge of Chinese textile and costume.
Officially open in January 2009, with an exhibition area of more than 4600 square meters, the museum is divided into six galleries: Popular Science, Ancient China, Modern China, Chinese Minorities, Cinema, and Temporary Exhibition. It integrates regular displays with temporary exhibitions, focusing on the revelation and public education of the history of Chinese textile and costume development while featuring art and design.
