Runaway Horses - Newcastle 25 Feb
A chance to hear Kimho Ip (yangch`in - Chinese dulcimer)and
Filip Davidse (soprano saxophone) playing music including a selection from their superb CD `Runaway Horses`
The title depicts a metaphor illustrating the spirit of departing from home and towards the idea of reinterpretation in music. The programme to include Mongolian folk tunes and early non-Western music.

Aberdeen University CSG Lecture 17 Feb
Professor Nick Pearce of Glasgow University will give a seminar entitled `A Flash in the Pan or the Bushell Bowl Debate`.
The seminar covers the extraordinary and controversial debate in the major Chinese journals of the early 20th century over the authenticity of a bronze pan owned by the Victoria & Albert Museum. At times farcical, the debate points up rivalries within Chinese art and linguistic studies in Britain and North America and also the problems associated with authenticity as defined in China and in the West.

The Scotland-China Association - China Business Club Dinner
Chinese Year of the Tiger Celebration - 2010
The Scotland China Association Edinburgh Branch Chinese New Year Dinner and our first China Business Club meeting in 2010 will take place on Tuesday 9th February (18:30 for 19:00hrs). As this is a social event bring partners, spouses, friends and colleagues are welcome. Tickets are priced at £17 pp inclusive of service and Chinese tea.

Aberdeen University Lecture 20 Jan 2010
Aberdeen Chinese Studies Group will open its new year seminar series sponsored by the Confucius Institute for Scotland with a seminar from Don Starr of the University of Durham.
The topic will be `Confucius Institutes Worldwide`.
