Development in Western China 9 Nov

The November talk hosted by the Edinburgh branch of the Scotland China Association will be given by Kester Newill whose topic is `Implementing development projects in western China -the `path` to success`

Based on his experiences volunteering for, managing and consulting on development projects in western China, Kester`s talk will outline some typical challenges. He will demonstrate how a clear monitoring and evaluation plan can strengthen projects. `Path` is an acronym for four essential project qualities that he will use to explain and expand the issues.

Admission free. All welcome.

China for SME`s 5 November

This free event aims to provide Scottish SMEs with basic information about China. With speakers drawn from the University of Glasgow and Scottish business people the event is organised by the University`s Innovation Network.

Taking place on Friday 5th November from 2pm-5pm the seminar will be held in the University of Glasgow`s Sir Charles Wilson Building, on the corner of University Avenue and Gibson Street. The programme outline is shown below.

Registration is from 1.30 for the programme which includes the topics and speakers as shown below:

SCA Edinburgh Talk - 9 Nov

October 2010

SCA Glasgow 26 October

The Glasgow branch of Scotland China Association second talk of its 2010-2011 programme will take place on Tuesday 26th October.

Ms Xiaoxin (Ellie) Li will talk on the topic of Contemporary Chinese Art.

The talk takes place at Garnethill Multicultural Centre, 21 Rose St, Glasgow G3 6RE on Tuesday 26th October 2010 at 7.30pm.

Attendance to the talk is free, but places are limited. Priorities are given to members of CBBC and SCA. There will be a networking drink afterwards at the Waxy O’Connor’s bar (44 West George Street, Glasgow G2 1DH) for which a £5 contribution towards drink & snacks is collected on the night.

Chinese Storytelling Sat 23 Oct

Chinese singer and storyteller Fong Liu leads the audience on an enchanting journey through an Chinese legend, while fellow Harmony Ensemble members Hooi Ling Eng and Eddie McGuire respond with original, improvised and traditional music.
