This event is supported by the British Council in collaboration with the Chinese organising committee as part of the China Market Focus 2012 cultural programme at The London Book Fair.
Fresh from the London Book Fair, two of China’s most talked about and widely read contemporary authors will spend an evening in conversation with Alan Bissett, Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Writer of the Year 2011.
In a first for Scotland, Xu Zechen, leading editor and novelist, and Annie Baobei, online literary sensation, will engage in discussions with Alan who has recently returned from the Bookworm Festival in Beijing. Both nations, vast and small, have experienced their own forms of profound social and economic change – how do writers from each culture reflect this?
This event is taking place on Thursday 19th April from 6pm - 8pm at the Confucius Institute for Scotland, Edinburgh. Book online now.
The venue for the evening will be the beautiful baronial style mansion, Abden House, home of the Confucius Institute for Scotland in the University of Edinburgh.
This event has been made possibly by collaboration between British Council and the Confucius Institute for Scotland.
