Chinese 4 - Code K3317
This course is the continuation of the previous 4.1for the students who have established good foundations in learning Chinese, to further develop the four language skills. By the end of the course students should be able to grasp more grammatical concepts and sentence structures, which will enable them to communicate more confidently and freely, such as presenting and appreciating a gift, giving an example etc. In addition, the students can know more about Chinese culture and customs.

Chinese 4.2
This course is for students who have completed either Chinese 4.1 or otherwise acquired a similar level of proficiency.

Learning outcomes
By the end of the course students should be able to:
Understand frequently used sentences and expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance, such as comparing, asking in retort.
Communicate more freely in particular social activities, such as presenting and appreciating a gift
Describe one’s thoughts and needs more clearly while interacting with people
Teaching method
The course is tutorial based with a combination of whole class activity and group work. The course also uses audio-visual material as teaching aids (CDs and DVDs).
In order to fully benefit from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, you will need to devote 1-2 hours outwith classes to revision and homework.

- The class will follow New Practical Chinese Reader Volume 3. The textbook, workbook and CD can be pre-ordered from the Confucius Institute at a price of £40.00.
