Course Summary

This course will further expand and deepen the content of conversation. Basic teaching content include the three main aspects below:

  • Further expand and deepen the content of conversation teaching
  • Recognise and read characters that appear in conversation teaching
  • Write and use common Chinese characters correctly

Content of Course

  • At the bank
  • At the post office
  • At the hospital
  • Planning a trip
  • Buying a ticket
  • Reserving a hotel room
  • Introducing scenic spots
  • Asking for leave & Entering one’s name

Teaching method

The course is tutorial based with a combination of whole class activity and group work. Students will be provided with written and audio materials as learning aids.

In order to fully benefit from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, students should be prepared to devote 1-2 hours outwith each class for revision and homework.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course students should:

  • Conduct dialogues correctly and fairly fluently based on the topics covered
  • Recognise and read common Chinese characters that have been taught
  • Write correctly some of the common Chinese characters learnt

Completion of 1.3 or equivalent (60 hours)

£ 125.00 or £83.00 concession for ten weeks of two hour classes
COURSE MATERIALS

Text book: Chen, Guanglei (ed). Hanyu Kouyu Jiaocheng, elementary Vol.2, 2000.With supplementary audio CD and pinyin scripts. There will be an additional charge for these materials not exceeding £30.
