Chinese 1.1 Monday - K3306 or Wednesday- K3307
In the spring term there are two new Chinese 1.1 classes on offer for complete beginners. These classes run on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.00-8.00pm. An additional charge of £10 for the course materials should be paid at the first class. To book please click here.

Content of Course
- Greetings, saying goodbye, say and ask for one’s name
- Talk and ask about one’s nationality, profession and job
- Talk and ask about number of family members and relationships between members.
- Tell and ask about time; talk and ask about specific time for a certain action
- Tell and ask about dates and days in a week; talk and ask about specific dates or weeks for certain actions
- Tell and ask about address, room number, telephone number and mobile number
- Talk and ask about availability; reply to basic invitations and requests
- Use basic food ordering language
- Use basic shopping language
- Pinyin
Teaching Methods
- Master basic Chinese pronunciation
- Conduct dialogues correctly and fairly fluently based on the topics covered
- Understand and use Pinyin at a certain level

- The class will follow a specially constructed course devised by our Chinese co-director and our teachers. Materials to support this course have been devised by our staff and these will be issued to students at the first class when at £10 materials charge will be required

The course is tutorial based with a combination of whole class activity and group work; use teaching materials and CDs as teaching aids. In order to fully benefit from the course and to achieve the learning outcomes, you will need to devote 1-2 hours outwith classes to revision and homework.
