Saturday Calligraphy Taster Courses: 28 Aug, 4 Sept, 11 Sept 2010
In August and September we are running three Saturday Calligraphy Taster Courses. Led by Chi Zhang, each Saturday session will focus on Chinese Calligraphy and Brush Painting with the chance to create your own piece of art work. Each course will run from 10.30am to 3pm with a 30 minutes break for lunch
Calligraphy
Learn the art of traditional Chinese calligraphy from pictographic characters to abstract characters. Discover the beauty of Chinese calligraphy by using a Chinese brush.
Brush Painting
Chinese Brush Painting uses the same implements as Chinese Calligraphy, with the addition of simple colour. The session will introduce common techniques related to the use of Chinese soft brushes and ink.
Teacher
Each session is led by Chi Zhang, who regularly teaches at the Institute. He is an Edinburgh based Chinese Calligraphy & Brush Painting artist, and an experienced art tutor whose works have been exhibited internationally.
Price
The price for each of the summer taster sessions is £30 inclusive of all materials. You can book one, two or three session as suits your interest. Sessions take place in Abden House, home of the Confucius Institute running from 10am-3pm.

To register please download the PDF Registration form complete it and return it to the Confucius Institute for Scotland with payment of the appropriate amount made out to the University of Edinburgh.
