Maoshengdun Mao holds a Bachelor Degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from Shanghai Normal University where she was awarded 1st prize scholarship for two consecutive years. Additionally she has been awarded the Zhang Bin scholarship for outstanding performance in her major and the Hu Ming scholarship for excellent performance in English.
Mao has also studied at the University of California, Los Angeles (2013) and the University of California, Berkeley (2014). In October 2015, she was recommended to be a postgraduate of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language (MTCSOL) at Fudan University and ranked 1st in the entrance examination.
She has worked as a Chinese teacher in the foreign affairs department of Business school, Shanghai Normal University (2015) and received a Certificate of Professional English (TEM-8) in 2016. In her first year at Fudan Univeristy she taught students from Davidson College, USA and executives from Coca Cola. She has published papers in Xijiang Literature and Art Journal. She has also participated in a Project of the National Social Science Foundation of China and projects of Fudan University.
Mao has a variety of interests, such as playing piano (Level Nine Certificate), reading and cooking. She has also travelled to many countries. Additionally, she enjoys visiting museums and gallery, watching operas, and going to concerts. She loves making friends and exchanging her ideas and perspectives on modern China as well as letting British people know more about China.
